What is the mission of Christianity, more specifically, our mission as Christians?
Or perhaps the best question is, what is the Christian mission for God as He purposed it?
How would you answer the following questions? And for all of you Sunday School alumni, we know your go-to answer: Jesus.
Indeed, Jesus is the answer. But let’s go a step further. Let’s go deeper.
What is the mission of Jesus?
Many people have different perspectives on Jesus’ mission — discipleship, relationship, peace, justice, teaching, expressing love, defeating sin and evil — and all hold an element of truth. However, Jesus Himself revealed a more profound purpose.
In our time of prayer together, we will explore the mission of Christianity, specifically the mission that God purposed through Jesus for us as Christians, His Church. We will pray into the mission of Jesus Himself, going beyond the surface and discovering a deeper understanding as expressed through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John:
- Lostness from God – Luke 24:45-49: We will pray for those who feel disconnected from God, asking for their hearts to be opened to His truth and love.
- Lostness from Ourselves – Matthew 28:18-20: We will intercede for individuals who may have lost their sense of purpose and identity, seeking God’s guidance and empowerment for them to fulfill their calling.
- Lostness from One Another – John 20:21-23, 30-31: We will lift up prayers for unity and restoration in relationships, asking God to heal wounds and reconcile broken bonds.
- Lostness from Creation – Mark 16:14-18: We will pray for the healing and restoration of our broken world, seeking God’s intervention and guidance in caring for His creation.
Together, we will seek God’s presence and power as we intercede on behalf of the many lives in our communities and campuses in Fort Worth — intentionally praying scripture-based prayers for all who are lost from God, themselves, one another, and His magnificent creation.
Join us as we align our hearts with God’s heart and mission to be part of His transformative work being accomplished in our city and beyond.
Let’s go all in, drawing closer to Jesus and His heart’s mission to save the lost, seeing His Kingdom expand and the effects of sin reversed in His name and His name alone.
May our hearts long to see God’s mission of the lost, all, truly made whole in the name of Jesus!
See you at 8 pm tonight via Zoom.
God bless,
