Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

Amid the recent events, our hearts are broken and burdened by Hamas’ heinous act of terrorism toward Israel.

This ancient conflict in the present day between Israel and Hamas has brought immense suffering, with innocent lives caught in the crossfire.

This conflict, this crossfire, impacts both Israeli and Palestinian civilians. It’s important to note that not all Palestinians are affiliated with Hamas. Tragically, this war has also led to the loss of many lives from both regions and surrounding ones.

As followers of Jesus Christ, it is our spiritual duty to seek God’s presence, heart, and will for all those affected by all evil and acts of violence.

In fact, Scripture emphasizes and instructs us to pray.  And amongst the many people, places, and things we’re to pray for as we seek God’s presence, heart, and will, we’re to pray for the peace of Israel and Jerusalem.

And what other words resonate with us more, especially during these trying times, than Psalm 122

1  I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

Our feet are standing
    in your gates, Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is built like a city
    that is closely compacted together.

That is where the tribes go up—
    the tribes of the Lord—
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.

There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.

May there be peace within your walls
    and security within your citadels.”

For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”

For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
    I will seek your prosperity.

Psalm 122 serves as a poignant reminder of our duty as Christians to pray for the peace of this historic nation and city.

Let our hearts be encouraged and challenged to come together and seek God’s intervention in prayer for the following tonight:

  • Divine Peace: Pray for God’s peace to intervene, not only in this situation but also in the hearts of all people involved.
  • Comfort for the Suffering: Pray for the families who have lost their dear ones and for God’s comfort and healing to touch their lives.
  • Return of Hostages: Pray for those who are held captive, asking for their safe return to their families and loved ones.
  • An End to the Conflict: Pray for the cessation of hostilities, that the ongoing violence may come to an end, and that a lasting peace may be established.
  • Strength and Wisdom: Pray for all people, particularly Jewish and Palestinian Christians, who strive to make a positive impact in the name of Jesus so that they may be infused with divine strength, discernment, and wisdom.

As His house of prayer and as believers, our faith in the One Name, Jesus, unites us in these moments of prayer all the more.

So, let’s gather together in faith, trusting that God hears our prayers and can bring healing and peace, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Join us tonight at 8 p.m. on Zoom.

God bless,
