40 Days and Counting: Prayerful Reflection and Preparation.

Can you believe it? Yesterday marked 40 days to the countdown to September 10thLaunch Sunday

That number 40 seems to carry quite some significance in the Bible—a period of trial, waiting, reflection, and preparation.

Think about it, from Jesus to Noah, Moses, Elijah, David, and many others. They went through their own 40-day, and sometimes 40-year journeys.

As we eagerly await Launch Sunday, a daily prayer of mine is for a fresh outpouring of God’s power, wisdom, and discernment in the present.

With life’s demands contending for our attention, we must stay attuned—neither rushing ahead nor lagging—to walk in unity by Spirit, which cultivates a sense of presence with God and others. This presence shapes our journey as well as us individually, as families, and as a united church in the community, on campus, and beyond.

Amid this journey, it’s essential to pause and appreciate how far God has brought us. And why?

For one, He’s God and deserves it, and specifically, tomorrow marks a year since we began our weekly prayer calls via Zoom every Wednesday from 8 to 9 pm.

Through laughter and tears, in highs and lows, the mundane and miraculous, God has met us in every moment of our prayers.

Many prayers have been answered, but we’re not stopping. Our city’s brokenness needs Christ’s wholeness of restoration, and this fuels our prayers!

Our commitment is to continue prayerfully seeking God’s heart, no matter the day’s ease or challenges. With this in heart and mind, I pray that the Holy Spirit rains upon us for Launch Sunday and beyond, infusing our lives and prayers with the gospel of Jesus in Spirit and truth—bearing fruit thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times more than we could ever imagine! (Matthew 13:22-23)

So over the next 40 days, let’s pray for the pouring of His goodness and holiness to be made evident in our prayerful reflection and preparation of all that is known and unknown. May our hope deepen in our desperate dependence and need for Him, and be present with Him and others as He builds His church through our lives.

Our city thirsts for God’s touch, for Heaven to touch and transform Fort Worth. The love of Christ should radiate to all. Imagine the glory!

Tonight, let’s reflect and prepare with prayerful hearts filled with gratitude for who God is and what He’s doing through our commitment to making disciples of Jesus as He builds His church.

See you at 8 pm via Zoom.

God bless,
