Hi everyone!
In this season of Advent, we celebrate the anticipation of the arrival, and the coming of Jesus through prayer, song, devotionals, and the reading of God’s Word.
One of the mainstays throughout our celebration has been the lighting of candles on the Advent wreath.
Each candle represents a virtue of God — hope, love, joy, and peace — while symbolizing, and embodying the heart and meaning of the season: the light of Christ Jesus is center and luminous for all the world to experience.
And each week during our time of prayer together, we believed for the following to be realized:
- The light of Jesus transforms our hearts in seeing and experiencing His glory in ways we’ve not experienced before.
- The light of Jesus to reach and transform the hearts of the lost so that His name, the name of Jesus, be made great throughout our city.
- For our communities and campuses of Fort Worth to discover hope in knowing that darkness can only last but for a brief moment in light of Christ Jesus.
- A full measure of the peace of Jesus to be evident in our hearts and spheres of influence, rather than simply a piece of Jesus, or at worse, less than a piece of the world.
- Lastly, the light of Jesus to spark a revival in our hearts and lives to see the Kingdom of God on full display across Fort Worth this Advent season!
So may our hearts embrace in an exacting measure all the virtues of the Advent season that Jesus offers having come into the world and soon returning.
Let’s prepare our hearts tonight to reflect and meditate on the promises of John 1:30-32 to be realized in Jesus reigning throughout the communities and campuses across Fort Worth — His Kingdom is never-ending!
I exhort us to pray for the majestic God of truth to divinely reveal himself to:
- All who have lost hope in living this Christmas season and the year to come.
- All whose light of joy has been snuffed out by the cold winds of life and the bondage of sin.
- All who have been looking for love in all the wrong places, people, and things.
- All who are numbed by life choices — whether by their own doing or the doing of someone else — because of not truly knowing, experiencing personal relationship, Jesus, and His gift of peace.
So join us tonight at 8 pm on Zoom as we pray for all to cast away fear by the perfecting, atoning love of Jesus — truly coming home to Him this Christmas, for good.
And speaking of Christmas,
