Hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving, filled with everything that makes the holiday special—family, friends, good food, and loads of laughter and memories to cherish.
Now, as we gear up for Christmas and the grand arrival of 2024, we’re on the brink of something pretty special—the start of Advent.
Ever heard of Advent? It’s this beautiful season of anticipation and longing where we ready our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
But you know, the season of Advent is not just about looking back at what was. It’s about looking forward to what is and what’s to come.
Sure, there’s the festive buzz that many of us look forward to—lights, decorations, carols, and merry get-togethers.
But for many, including some of us, this season can be one of complete darkness or one that carries a hint of darkness. It might bring dark, heavy feelings of loss, struggles with mental health, financial stress, or just that holiday blues vibe that’s hard to shake off.
But guess what? This year, things can be different. There is hope, especially in the season of Advent. It’s this glimmer of hope in darkness.
In Isaiah 9:2-3, 6, the prophet Isaiah spoke about the people of Israel walking in darkness and seeing a great light.
2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. 3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:2-3, 6
That light he describes? The assurance of hope and joy that came with the birth of Immanuel, God with us—the one we call Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
This promise shines brightly not just in those days but continues to illuminate our lives today and in the days ahead, guiding us from the depths of darkness into the radiant light of Jesus’ love.
So, as we prepare for the season of Advent and our hearts to pray tonight, we’re inviting you to reflect, rejoice, and experience this one-of-a-kind hope—the hope of Jesus that illuminates our lives both now and forever.
Hope to see you tonight at 8 pm via Zoom!
God bless,

Additionally, we will make space to pray for God to extend His reach beyond the limits of our city and into the world, seeking His wisdom, unity, safety, and provision for the following people and initiatives:
As we pray, let’s support and uplift Peter Dusan, Every Nation’s Southwest Regional Evangelist and UT Campus Director. He encountered Jesus during high school through campus ministry and later initiated campus and church planting endeavors, including a ministry at Texas State University and a church in San Marcos, Texas—The Springs. Peter’s passion reaches beyond campuses to invigorate ministries and pioneer new opportunities for churches and campus ministries—to the nations.
Let’s pray for Pastor Roy and Britnie McDonald, church planters of Divine Unity Community Church (DUCC RVA) in Richmond, Virginia. As active members sent from DUCC in Harrisonburg, Virginia, to plant DUCC RVA, their vision and passion are to establish a community rooted in biblical revival, reconciliation, and reproduction—a place for new beginnings, belonging, personal growth, and realization of God-inspired visions.
