A Prayer For 817.

817 — the area code of the great city of Fort Worth.

Whether they call it Cowtown, Funkytown, or Panther City, I hope people see the beauty beneath the surface in this place as much as I do.

As a transplant, I’ve come to love it even more than the places I came from. And, I hope you, too, have come to love the city where God has placed you.

That’s the miracle of how God draws us into the places we were meant to be, no matter how long the season.

Have you yet realized that it wasn’t an accident?

Wherever you find yourself today, remember that God has placed you in every space and place for a divine purpose.

This week at Mosaic Fort Worth, we continued our sermon series, A Prayer For… The Psalms and Hope. In this series, we’ve seen that if the Lord’s Prayer from Jesus’s lips tells us what to pray, the book of Psalms shows us how to pray. We’ve found prayers for ourselves, our family, our faith community, our neighborhood—and now, our city.

Examining Psalm 46, we find many popular verses—some of which you may have on a coffee mug, shirt, or sticker. But the Psalm’s meaning goes beyond what we can pluck and often mistakenly place or stick on top of any circumstance. This Psalm encourages and reflects the impact of a godly city.

Like the Trinity River that flows through the city of Fort Worth, what if there was “a river whose streams make glad” the city of Fort Worth?

What if we allowed the living water of God’s presence, provision, and peace to flow out of our hearts and into the city?

What if He were what we were genuinely known for?

Check out this past Sunday’s sermon to see how your city can become one of presence, provision, and peace. Then, join us for our prayer call today from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. via Zoom as we pray for these.

Out of Psalm 46, let’s pray to become a city of:

  • 🙏 Presence: God’s presence being made known to the city of Fort Worth and those throughout the world. That we would be known as people rooted in His presence and not the troubling, broken identities that mark us.
  • 🙏 Provision: That living, healing water would flow out of our hearts into every part of our city. That we prevail as a city not just financially but relationally, spiritually, and emotionally, looking to God for all we need.
  • 🙏 Peace: That we would experience a holy peace upon our city. That we pray for God’s peace to invade the places where we live, work, and play.

Let’s pray and seek God together.

See you at 12 pm!

God Bless,

Additionally, we will make space to pray for God to extend His reach beyond the limits of our city and into the world, seeking His wisdom, unity, safety, and provision for the following people and initiatives:

Let’s pray for Campus Missionary Caleb Felton, who serves at Georgia Institute of Technology at Center Church, a church plant in Atlanta, GA. Pray for momentum on campus through the summer and a second campus missionary to join their team. His church is also praying for a meeting space and 20 salvations to finish building their launch team of 50 people.

Let’s lift Mark and Ruth Younge as they serve as cross-cultural missionaries to Cardiff, Wales. With a heart to make disciples and equip & empower future leaders on the campus and in the workplace, they are praying to reap a harvest in Europe.
