The Empty Tomb Changes Everything

Life has a way of teaching us patterns like…

For every action, there is a reaction.
What goes up must come down.
 Every peak has its valley.
Every beginning has an ending.

That’s how life usually works.

It’s how our series The Journey came to a close this past Easter Sunday, from Jesus crucified and buried on Good Friday to the resurrection.

And as we saw Sunday, Easter reminds us this wasn’t the end of the story.

It was the beginning of a new reality. A reality for people like us.
People who are tired, searching, and trying to make sense of life.

Because if we’re honest, we often live in the tension of wanting God, while still wanting control.

Yet, the truth is that we can’t experience the power of what we won’t surrender to.

And still, the angel’s words still echo today:

“He is not here… He has risen.”

Those words meet us right where we are. In the places that feel final. In relationships, work, home, even church. Places that feel stuck, lost, or beyond repair. That conversation or situation you thought would’ve changed by now. Yeah, that one!

Oh, but the good news is that Easter is God’s declaration that death doesn’t have the last word. He does.

The risen Jesus comes near and says, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Which means we don’t have to carry our life on our own. We are invited to trust Him, laying down the striving, releasing control, and stepping into a life shaped by trust.

A life where hope is real, and we purposefully walk daily with the One who is the very essence of what it means for us to be alive.

So let our hearts be encouraged that our stories don’t have to end in bad news, but that Jesus desires for us to not just receive His good news, but to live it out and share it with others, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that He has commanded us, too.

So wherever you are as you read this, let’s bring these before Him tonight in our time of prayer:

  • Surrender — where we’re still holding back
  • Hope — believing nothing is beyond His restoration
  • Trust — leaning on His authority, not our own
  • New Life — hearts open to what He’s doing now
  • Faith in Action — courage to follow Him daily

Because in a world where everything rises and falls,
where beginnings fade and endings come, there is One who broke the pattern and power of sin to make us whole again.

He went down, and did not stay there.
He entered death, and walked out alive.

And now, in Him, what feels finished isn’t final, what feels buried isn’t gone, and what feels over may just be the place God begins again.

This is the power of the risen Jesus that’s alive in us, working amongst us, and still changing people, places, and things to reflect the fullness of His resurrection power until the day of His return.

He is Risen! He is risen indeed!

See you, 7pm!

Blessings,
