As we set our hearts to pray this Wednesday, we pray in the profound truths from Sunday’s sermon on suffering—Romans 8:18-30.
Today, we’ll take time to prayerfully reflect on Paul’s assurance to all believers that the sufferings we endure now are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. This promise offers us hope and a vision of the future that empowers us to persevere, even while suffering.
As we prepare to pray, let’s take a moment to meditate on these questions in light of Sunday’s sermon:
- How does understanding Jesus as the Suffering Servant shape how you view your trials?
- How can we allow our suffering to deepen our relationship with Christ and one another?
- How can we, as a community, encourage those around us to see their suffering as part of God’s greater purpose?
Today’s prayer focus will be centered on the hope and inheritance we have in Jesus, especially as it relates to the suffering experienced by all humanity in our life’s journey. Let’s pray for God’s will to be done in the following:
🙏 Thanks and Praise: Thank and praise God for Jesus, the Suffering Servant, who endured the cross so that we might have strength and courage in Him and by the Spirit to face our own suffering.
🙏 Hope in Suffering: Rejoice in the hope that God cultivates in us through suffering—a hope that does not disappoint or put us to shame.
🙏 Encouragement: Pray that God uses our suffering to draw everyone closer to Jesus, deepening our relationships with Him and others in the process.
🙏 Softened Hearts: Ask God to prevent our hearts from hardening in the face of suffering, helping us to trust in His purpose even when it’s difficult to see.
🙏 Salvation for Non-Believers: Lift up those who do not yet know Christ, that their suffering would lead them to repentance and faith in Jesus, allowing them to experience the hope and glory of God.
🙏 Adoption and Glory: Pray that we fully embrace our identity as children of God, with an eternal inheritance that far outweighs our present suffering.
🙏 Intercession of the Holy Spirit: Thank God for the Holy Spirit, who intercedes for us in our weakness, helping us to endure suffering with grace, character, and hope.
🙏 God’s Purpose: Pray for a deep, abiding love for God, trusting that He works all things together for good according to His purpose.
🙏 Transformation in Our City: Ask God to transform our lives and our city through the beauty of the Gospel, knowing that it addresses every form of suffering without fail.
We look forward to seeing you all at 12 pm on Zoom as we come together in prayer, standing firm in the truth that the Gospel truly is for everyone, bringing hope amidst suffering.
God bless,
