Confidence to be Present.

Have you noticed how your confidence affects your ability to be truly present with others?

When our confidence is rooted in Jesus, we often find the strength to show up fully—in our relationships, workplaces, and especially in our commitment to gathering as the church.

But what happens when our confidence is placed elsewhere?

How often do we find ourselves holding back or even missing out, struggling to be present where it matters most?

This week, as part of our series The Domino Effect: Decisions That Make a Difference, we’re focusing on The Power of Presence and how consistent church attendance not only shapes our lives but also profoundly impacts those around us.

In Hebrews 10:19-25, the writer challenges us to see that the simple decision to attend church regularly gives us the confidence to draw closer to God and each other. This confidence isn’t just a fleeting feeling but a transformative way of living that creates a ripple effect, deepening our relationships with God, ourselves, and the world.

As we gather to pray, let’s open our hearts to the confidence that only Jesus provides, considering both the practical and spiritual impact of gathering as His church, as beautifully expressed in Hebrews:

  • Draw nearer to Jesus and His people: With a heart fully surrendered to Christ, we experience a conscience freed from guilt and shame, drawing us deeper into a shared life in God’s holiness.

  • Keep our eyes on Jesus: When we’re tempted to seek satisfaction elsewhere, let’s pray for hearts confidently anchored in Jesus, finding unwavering hope in Him above all else.

  • Encourage with Jesus’ love: Just as Jesus encourages us, let’s encourage one another with love and purpose, spurring each other toward confident faith and good works.

As we seek to embody Jesus’ presence in our own lives, let’s enter into prayer with confidence, seeking God’s heart for these requests change lives where we live, work, and play:

🙏 Confidence in Jesus—That we all find courage and strength, especially during uncertain times, and seek Jesus as our source of confidence and stability that uplifts our spirits and guide our choices.

🙏 Renewed Commitment to Community—Pray that we would embrace community as a vital part of our spiritual growth, choosing to be present in investing in each other’s lives, even when it feels challenging and especially when we feel isolated or disconnected.

🙏 Healing and Restoration for Those Hurt by Church Experiences—Pray for those who carry past hurts from church or faith-based communities that God would heal these wounds, offering new experiences of peace, love, and belonging in Jesus.

🙏 Wisdom in Prioritizing Time and Commitments—Ask for discernment in balancing life’s many demands to consistently choose what brings us closer to God and others, resisting distractions that pull us away.

🙏 Joy-filled Purpose in Serving Together—Pray that we would experience joy and a deep sense of purpose as we serve our church and community as Jesus did, understanding that each act of service has a ripple effect on those around us.

🙏 Unity in Diversity within the Body of Christ—Pray that our church would grow in love and unity in Jesus across political, racial, and generational lines, showing the world what it means to be one in Christ.

🙏 Courage to Invite Others—Pray for the boldness to invite family, friends, and colleagues to church or faith-related gatherings, trusting that God is already at work in their lives.

🙏 A Spirit of Encouragement—Pray that Jesus becomes the source of encouragement to those around us, uplifting and inspiring each other as we confidently live lives that reflect God’s love.

🙏 Hope and Perseverance for Non-believers—Pray for those who have not yet encountered the hope of Jesus, that they would feel drawn to explore faith, even amid doubts and struggles.

🙏 A Heart of Thanksgiving for the Church Family—Pray for a spirit of gratitude for our church family and the support they offer, especially during tough times, recognizing the blessing of fellowship.

🙏 Clear Vision for Future Generations—Pray that God would give our church a clear vision for impacting future generations, guiding us to plant seeds of faith that will bear fruit for years on the campus, in the community, and beyond.

Believing in the power of presence to make a difference from one life to the next, let’s pray, trust, and grow in the confidence that only Jesus can give.

See you at noon on Zoom!

God bless,
Pastor Alvin and Mallary Brown
