Have you ever waited for something big?
Maybe it’s a long-anticipated vacation or a life milestone you’ve been counting down to—something you’ve imagined over and over, hoping it meets your expectations.
That feeling of anticipation? The people in Jesus’ time knew it well.
For generations, they waited on a promise—a King, a Savior, someone who would finally make things right. Then came a week that turned everything upside down.
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, He didn’t arrive with the grandeur of a political conqueror. There was no warhorse, no grand parade, just a humble donkey. It was quiet and unassuming, yet it spoke louder than any trumpet blast.
Because this King didn’t come to take power but to give it away. He didn’t come to dominate but to serve. He wasn’t after land or thrones—He came for hearts. And His throne? It would be a cross.
We know what it’s like to expect one thing and be met with another. Sometimes, what we hope for looks very different from how it unfolds.
And like those in Jerusalem, we can miss the beauty of what is when we’re fixated on what we think it should be.
So here we are—Holy Week. Maybe you’re holding expectations in your heart right now. Maybe you’re longing for something to shift, arrive, and finally make sense.
But what if, like those in Jesus’ day, what you’re waiting for isn’t what your heart truly needs?
What if this week’s real invitation is to encounter a King who transforms from the inside out?
So, let’s pause to pray and seek the heart of this King—the one who redefines power, peace, and purpose:
🙏 A Kingdom that is spiritual, not political.
🙏 Hearts that value love, kindness, and compassion over control.
🙏 A desire to pursue unity and peace, just as Jesus did.
🙏 A Kingdom that is sacrificial, not domineering.
🙏 Strength to choose selflessness, even when it’s hard.
🙏 Openness to release our expectations and embrace God’s better ways.
🙏 A Kingdom that is inclusive, not exclusive.
🙏 A heart that includes and embraces, especially those on the margins.
🙏 Humility to learn, grow, and reflect Jesus more fully.
🙏 Unshakable hope to keep believing, loving, and sharing the good news—right where we live, work, and play.
Yes, we’re all waiting for something. But this week, let’s not miss the arrival that matters most—the quiet, powerful, and unexpected entrance of a King who came not with force, but with forever love.
Let’s walk with Him—not just through the joy of Easter and beyond, but also through the shadows—into a love that transforms everything, making what felt unexpectedly broken beautifully whole.
And let the arrival of this tender, transforming love shape our waiting hearts to reflect His more and more every day.
See you at noon!
God Bless,
Pastor Alvin and Mallary Brown
