When You Long for More.

Have you ever been thirsty?

Not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally—longing for something more, something deeper?

If you haven’t yet, you likely will. And if you are right now, know this: you’re not alone, and this thirst will not last forever.

Life has a way of leaving us parched, searching for purpose, direction, and fulfillment. But true refreshment doesn’t come from striving—it comes from surrender.

In A Prayer for the Thirsty Soul, we looked at Psalm 143, where David cries out, “My soul thirsts for You like a parched land” (v. 6). His prayer reminds us that God alone is our refuge, our guide, and the only One who can truly satisfy.

This week, let’s bring our thirst before Him in prayer, trusting that He will meet us where we are. As David did, let’s pray:

I remember the days of old;
I meditate on all that You have done;
I ponder the work of Your hands.
I stretch out my hands to You;
My soul thirsts for You like a parched land. (Psalm 143:5-6)

As we lay our thirst before God, let’s pray:

🙏 Forgive us for placing our worth in thirsting for the wrong things, yet lead us to thirst for You and desire what is good as You see it.

🙏 Help us find our true identity in You, knowing we are fully seen, known, and loved.

🙏 Help us hear and know Your voice above the noise and discern what is true and best for our life.

🙏 Help us be still and experience Your love and faithfulness, knowing You are with us in every season.

🙏 When we feel unsure about our purpose, guide us forward and help us trust Your direction over our own understanding.

🙏 When we feel overwhelmed and discouraged, remind us You are near and bring peace to our chaotic thoughts.

🙏 When we are exhausted, refresh our soul, strengthen us, and remind us to turn to You instead of temporary solutions.

When our souls thirst, God invites us to come to Him—the only true source of refreshment. Like David, we can turn our desperation into devotion, trusting Him to meet our needs.

As we continue to learn how to pray the Psalms for hope that quenches our thirsty souls and leads us to contentment in Jesus and Jesus alone, may we seek Him daily, remember His sacrifice and faithfulness, and surrender our thirst for what cannot satisfy.

Let’s drink deeply of His presence, knowing He alone is the Living Water that never runs dry.

See you soon!

God Bless,

Additionally, we will make space to pray for God to extend His reach beyond the limits of our city and into the world, seeking His wisdom, unity, safety, and provision for the following people and initiatives:

As we pray, let’s lift up Campus Missionary Carlos Febregas and his family as they share the gospel with college students at the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University. Pray for their impact in introducing students to Jesus and equipping them to carry His message wherever they go.

Join us in praying for Lead Pastors Kenneth and Tawnya Farve as they lead Every Nation Church Downtown LA. Married for ten years and serving in ministry together for nearly 15, they are both native Angelenos with a deep love for the city and its people. Their mission is to create a welcoming church where the gospel transforms lives, friendships are formed, and disciples of Jesus are equipped to impact their families, communities, and the world. Pray for their continued strength, vision, and growth as they faithfully serve Los Angeles.
