Protest. Pray. Praise.

From one seat of power to the next, we meet face-to-face with the sobering reality that while traditional forms of slavery may seem like a distant past, slavery continues to exist in new, hidden forms—namely, human trafficking.

It’s shocking to consider that 49.6 million people are enslaved today, more than at any other time in history. This exploitation of vulnerable men, women, and children for labor and their bodies generates billions of dollars in profit each year—$236 billion and counting

As shared in Psalm 10 and our recent sermon, “Modern Day Slavery,” in the You Have A Part To Play series, we posed the following questions:

  • Would you recognize modern-day slavery if it was happening in front of you?
  • What does God’s Word say about the exploitation of vulnerable people?
  • How can we, as followers of Christ, respond in the face of such evil?

As Bria illuminated so well Sunday, Psalms 10 provides a model for our Christ-centered response to evil and injustice through the three lenses:

  • Protest the evil that exists.
  • Pray for God’s intervention and deliverance.
  • Praise God for His justice, which will one day make all things right.

Let us come together to bring the weight of these injustices before God, believing for the following prayer requests to be answered in the name of Jesus—reversing the curse of human trafficking:

🙏 Pray for freedom—that the exploiter and the exploited would encounter and be transformed by Jesus, who sets all captives free.

🙏 Pray for divine intervention—that God would expose and bring justice to those who perpetuate evil, especially human trafficking.

🙏 Pray for awareness—that we would have eyes to see and hearts to act on behalf of the vulnerable around us.

🙏 Pray for reconciliation—that those who have been broken and estranged by this evil would find healing and restoration through Christ.

🙏 Pray for survivors—that the exploited would be empowered by God to share their stories of redemption and hope.

🙏 Praise God for organizations fighting against human trafficking, and for His rescuing and redeeming power through the Gospel of Jesus.

Remember, we are called to protest, pray, and praise in every situation we encounter in life. Why?

We do this because we know Jesus Himself suffered the injustice of Psalms 10, and through the cross, He has overcome the power of sin and darkness.

Psalm 10 reminds us that even when the wicked seem to prosper, God is on the throne, and He will bring an end to the terror of human exploitation.

Let’s take action and stand in faith and works, believing that God’s light will dispel the darkness of modern-day slavery one life at life forever.

See you at 12 p.m.!

God bless,
Pastor Alvin and Mallary Brown
