I hope this message finds you well and deeply encouraged in your walk with Christ. As we come together for our prayer call today, let’s take a moment to reflect on an important question:
What is your mindset as you live daily, and what are the results eternally?
In Romans 8:2-13, the Apostle Paul shares a profound truth about how we can overcome sin by living in and by the Spirit through the work of Jesus.
As we explored in Sunday’s sermon, “Win Over Sin,” we need a different law to overcome the law of sin, much like we need the law of aerodynamics to overcome gravity.
Just as we cannot defy gravity by sheer willpower, we cannot overcome sin by our own strength. We need an internal power greater than ourselves – the Spirit of Christ.
It is through Jesus that we are set free from sin and death, and it is by inviting the Holy Spirit into our lives that we can live in the Spirit’s liberty of this freedom daily.
As we pray together today, let’s embrace Jesus’ gift of freedom, invite the Holy Spirit to empower us, and open our hearts to lift up prayers for each other, our city, and our nation:
🙏 Thanking and Praising God for Freedom in Christ Jesus
- Thank God for setting us free from the law of sin and death through Jesus.
- Praise God for the gift of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to live a holy life.
🙏 Confession and Repentance
- Acknowledge our sins and the ways we have lived according to the flesh.
- Ask for forgiveness and strength to turn away from sinful habits.
🙏 Empowerment by the Holy Spirit
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill us with His power to overcome sin.
- Ask for a renewed mind that desires the life of the Spirit and not fleshly sin and death.
🙏 Living as Children of God and Not as Children of the World
- Pray for nonbelievers’ identity to be born again in Jesus.
- Pray for the assurance of believers’ identity as children of God.
- Ask for the Spirit’s guidance to live out this identity in our daily lives.
Where we live, work, and play, let’s invite God into our daily decisions and interactions, steering clear of the sinful temptations that result in eternal emptiness.
Let’s set our hearts and minds on praying the words of Jesus, surrendering daily to God’s will for us to win over sin.
By doing so, we invite the Holy Spirit to renew, fill, and empower us to live in ways that strengthen our relationship with God and others while enabling us to win over sin now and eternally.
Let’s embrace the freedom and power we have in Christ to live victorious lives and inspire others to do the same, as this is the Gospel for everyone.
Looking forward to praying with you at 12 pm on Zoom!
God bless,
Pastor Alvin & Mallary Brown
