Last weekend, I, along with my family, found myself at a birthday party—good food, lots of laughs, and people I hadn’t seen in a while.
Eventually, I did walk over and strike up a conversation. After a few minutes of small talk came the inevitable question: “So, what do you do?”
Funny how such a simple question pulls back the curtain on a deeper one we’re all wondering:
“Who are you really, and what are you known for?”
Is it your job? Your personality? Your past? Or maybe—if you’re like most of us—what you don’t want to be known for still haunts you.
But here’s the beautiful, upside-down truth of the Gospel:
Jesus doesn’t just forgive what you’ve done—He redefines who you are.
Romans 6 tells us that if we’ve been united with Christ, we’ve died to sin. Not improved. Not polished up. But buried. And in that burial comes resurrection. New life. A real change. A new “known for.”
So as we gather together to pray today, let’s pray and believe for the following on the campus and in the community:
🙏 Lead us to live from our identity in Christ—not by what we do or what others expect, but marked by Jesus’ love, grace, truth, and the fruit of the Spirit.
🙏 For those stuck in shame, guilt, or cycles of sin—help us release what pulls us back and lead us into healing and wholeness in You.
🙏 Transform us from the inside out—renew our hearts and habits to walk in the new life surrendered to You.
🙏 Help us live Spirit-filled lives that reflect our belonging to Jesus, not our past—and stir a desire to do Your will with unity, peace, purpose, and joy.
🙏 May our new lives in Jesus shine brightly and point others to You.
Remember, living a new life is not about being flawless—it’s about being free from the power of sin, and free in Jesus. In Him, we’re set free from sin and empowered to be known for more than a title, a talent, or even a mistake.
That’s the power of being united with Christ.
So this week, whether you’re out and about on campus and in the city, or have a quiet moment alone, take a moment to reflect upon the question:
What are you known for?
And even more—Who are you becoming in Christ?
Let’s pray for this new life and real change together in Christ.
See you at 12 pm!
God Bless,
Pastor Alvin and Mallary Brown

Additionally, we will make space to pray for God to extend His reach beyond the limits of our city and into the world, seeking His wisdom, unity, safety, and provision for the following people and initiatives:

Let’s pray for Michael and Julia Thomas as they transition from campus ministry to new roles at Kingdom Church Memphis—Michael as Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Julia as Guest Services Director. A Memphis native and Tennessee State University alum, Michael previously served at TSU and the University of Memphis. Together, they’ve shown unwavering faithfulness in reaching the lost, discipling believers, and empowering leaders to impact the campus, church, and city.
Let’s pray for Steve and Kailah Cabral as they are sent out to plant a new church. After over five years on staff at Aletheia Cambridge, they’ve been commissioned to launch Aletheia’s third congregation in Boston. With a deep passion for the city, they carry a vision to see Boston reignited with a love for the Gospel and the Kingdom of Heaven.
