Building Bridges, Not Barriers.

Over the last few weeks in our series We Have a Part to Play, we’ve been asking some honest questions:

What’s our part to play with our bodies?
With our souls—our inner life?
With our people, our relationships?
And with our work, our vocations?

This week, we turned to something that touches almost every moment of our lives—technology.

The devices in our hands, the apps we open, the screens we scroll. They connect us in ways the world’s never seen, and yet somehow, we’ve never felt more disconnected.

The New York Times ran a story recently called “Finding God in the App Store.” Millions are turning to chatbots for comfort, prayer, and even spiritual guidance.

It shows that we’re all hungry for something real and lasting, but while we long for connection, we often settle for the convenience technology offers.

But let’s be clear: technology isn’t the enemy. The real question has always been:

Does what we create, even with our tech, serve the Creator, or quietly compete with Him?

Jesus once stepped into Simon Peter’s fishing boat, a piece of technology in its day, and used it to reach people. He didn’t use it to replace relationships, but to build them.

What if we did the same? What if our devices, our posts, our platforms were used less to promote ourselves and more to reach and point people toward Jesus?

As we come together tonight for prayer, let’s bring not just our devices, but our hearts—the good, the distracted, and the worn out—and surrender them back to God.

Because when our tech serves His purpose, it becomes a bridge, not a barrier.

So, where we live, work, and play, we pray and cry out to God together:

🙏 That we’d use technology and time in ways that bring life, not distraction at least, and sin and death at worst.

🙏 That God would empower us to embrace and build real relationships, not just digital ones.

🙏 That our hearts would find rest beyond the endless scroll.

🙏 That our life’s work and creativity would reflect what’s true, good, and lasting in Jesus.

🙏 That we’d remember who defines us, not our posts or achievements, but who God says we are in Him.

🙏 That our words, spoken, written, or typed, would heal, not harm.

🙏 That we’d look beyond convenience to receive real life and hope in Jesus.

🙏 That we’d learn to be still, to listen, and be present with God and others.

🙏 That God would inspire us to use every tool and platform for good.

🙏 And that anyone searching for comfort or belonging—online or off—would encounter Jesus in a real, transforming way.

God, take what’s in our hands and use it for what’s in Your heart.

Make our devices and platforms windows for grace, not walls of noise.

Let our words, on and offline, echo Your Word deep in us.

Because when our tech serves You, the world won’t just see what we’ve made,
they’ll see who made us and all things: Jesus.

See you on the call.

God Bless,
