What you and I, and the world so desperately need, is freedom. But not the freedom of the world’s suffocating sin.
A freedom to see the needs of people rather than the freedom to see people as objects with no inherent value, or worse, not see people at all. A freedom to see where God is active in the lives of those where we live, work, and play.
We need a freedom of wisdom and discernment to see ourselves and others as God sees us. A freedom to see beyond the physical realities to the spiritual realities all around us to serve one another as Jesus loved us and gave his life as a ransom for many.
A freedom to not only see, but a freedom to love the hurting in a known and felt love that transforms hearts and bases identity in no one and nothing but Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Based on Sunday’s sermon on Galatians 5:13-26 to serve one another through love, allowing our freedom in Christ to lead others out of bondage to sin, we’ll pray the following:
🙏 Thanksgiving and Praise: Give thanks and praise for the incredible gift of Jesus, who exemplified true service through love. We thank and praise God for His saving grace and His continuous work in our lives, and the freedom we are afforded in this life and the one to come.
🙏 Confession and Repentance: Humbly acknowledge any ways in which we’ve prioritized ourselves over others, neglecting opportunities to serve in our freedom to love. Let’s open our hearts to God’s forgiveness, revelation, and transformation.
🙏 Intercession for Our City and the Nations: Pray for divine encounters with individuals who are enslaved by sin, struggling with their identity, or trapped in selfishness. May God use us as vessels of His love to lead them to Jesus through our acts of service and compassion.
| May God’s Word guide our freedom to love one another well: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” — Romans 12:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” — 1 Peter 4:10-11 “Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.” — Ephesians 6:7-8 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” —Philippians 2:3-4 |
Join our hearts in prayer from 12 to 12:30 pm today on Zoom as we seek God’s guidance and empowerment to serve one another in love just as Christ gave his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
Let’s come expectant and ready to witness Jesus’ transformative work in our hearts to serve communities, campuses, and nations with the freedom in Christ to love one another well.
God bless,
Pastor Alvin & Mallary Brown
