Tonight’s Prayer for Glorious Light.

Hi everyone!

As we approach week three in this season of Advent, I was reminded of how the world can truly be a dark place to call home at times — and it seems to grow darker by the day by some accounts.

In fact, as I read, studied, and meditated upon the entire passage of Isaiah 60 yesterday in preparation for tonight’s prayer call, my phone buzzed with a puzzling headline notification that served as a reminder:

For A Brief Moment Today, 90 Percent Of Humanity Will Be Engulfed In Darkness.

The headline referenced that nearly 9 in 10 people, due to the world’s population density, could look up and see a sky that is completely dark — a moment of maximum darkness.

Wow! Talk about notification of double entendre as I was simultaneously reading verses 1-3 of Isaiah 60:

1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

But more importantly, I was reminded of the more profound and deeper truth in the article’s headline as it pertains to the current state of the world being in spiritual darkness — most people never knew a moment of maximum darkness ever existed yesterday.

Darkness slowly engulfed most as they slept the night away as spiritual darkness engulfs the spiritually blind and unaware daily.

Spiritually speaking, it’s reported that nearly 70 or more percent of people today live in the state of darkness that Isaiah 60 mentions — just right at 30 percent profess Christianity as their faith belief throughout the world at this very moment.

And while this alarming percentage can be starkly disheartening, I find absolute hope in the parallel of verses 1, especially the latter part of verse 2, pointing to darkness completely being displaced by the Light of all lights coming, Jesus, and His glory rising upon and appearing over us.

And much like the first part of the headline, you and I both, should find hope in knowing that darkness can only last but for a brief moment, if at all.

So join us tonight at 8 pm on Zoom as we shine the light given to us, and pray for the Nations across Fort Worth to step from darkness and into the glorious, everlasting light of Jesus as we await his Second Coming.

See you soon!

God bless,
Pastor Alvin & Mallary Brown
