What is a paradox?
Or better yet, what’s your paradox?
Paradoxes — seemingly absurd or self-contradictory but often still proven to be…We’ve all been there, haven’t we?
This is where we found ourselves at Mosaic Fort Worth this week, continuing in our sermon series, Arise: How Romans 6 Helps Us Live a New Life.
Taking a look at Romans 6:11-14, we discovered a great paradox:
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
What is it? Well, it’s the fact that God wants us both dead and alive.
If you believe in the truth of Jesus and trust Him with your life, you can live a life where you are both. You don’t have to feel stuck and subjected to do the bidding of sin because you are freed by Jesus from its power — dead. You can now live in the freedom to be driven by the desires of the Holy Spirit, under grace — alive.
Is this true of your life today? Or, do you long for freedom from sin as your master?
Be encouraged that a life dead to sin but alive to God is more than possible, by the power of God. He is the only One who can save, deliver, and restore. He is the only One who can give us the power to live by His grace and for His purposes.
Will you live this new life?
Check out this past Sunday’s sermon to see how you can live a new life like this. Then, join us for our prayer call today from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. via Zoom as we pray for these.
Out of Romans 6:11-14, lets pray to:
🙏 Die to Who We Were: That our old selves (and others’) would be crucified with Jesus and the “body of sin” that once held us as slaves done away with.
🙏 Live from Who You Are: Those born again would live a life free from the bondage of sin — alive to God, for His plans and purposes.
🙏 Starve What You Were: Reject the control of sin and idols in our lives. That God would illuminate the “good things gone bad” in our lives and help us stop putting our trust in them instead of Him.
🙏 Offer All You Are: Surrender and offer ourselves as instruments and vessels of God’s righteousness. While we may desire and struggle with it in our human nature, we must deny our fleshly desires and lean into the Holy Spirit. Through the Word, prayer, and faith community, we can renew our minds and stop feeding what’s dead in our lives.
Let’s pray and seek God together.
See you at 12 pm!
God Bless,
Bria Lacour
