Some days, if not most, the flood of headlines feels unbearable. Today was one of those days. 

A shooting in a Minneapolis church cut lives short as students prayed. Another story told of parents mourning their child, wondering if technology itself had a hand in their loss. 

Violence, confusion, grief.  It all feels relentless, like the world is unraveling.

And yet, Paul directs the hearts of believers and followers to yield our hearts and lives to Colossians 3:17, whispering to us:

“Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

Paul reminds us that submission to Christ is not a sign of weakness in a sinful and broken world. It’s a reverent reorientation. 

Like a GPS that only works when aligned to the right signal, our hearts only move in the right direction when synced to and transformed by Jesus. 

Our lives submitted to Him give meaning to life, even when chaos surrounds us.

The truth is, these tragedies remind us just how broken our world is. And they leave us at a crossroads: the question is not if we will submit, but to whom. 

Paul’s answer is clear: only in Christ does submission become life, hope, and peace.

Christ is, has always been, and will always be supreme. His supremacy isn’t just a doctrine for our minds. It’s the lifeline that transforms and fills our hearts with His life-giving fullness and nature. It calls us to lay down fear, pride, control, and despair, and to trust Him fully.

So tonight, we won’t gather only to grieve, but to submit together to the One who holds all, redeems all, and gives us the power to live with hope, peace, and courage in His name.

Tonight, we pray for the following:

• Thank God for His faithfulness, even when the world feels unstable.
• Praise Jesus for His supremacy that brings order, hope, and peace.
• Pray for the families in Minneapolis and all affected by senseless violence.
• Pray for the grieving parents, and for every parent weighed down by fear.
• Ask the Spirit to align our hearts to Christ where we live, work, and play.
• Pray for marriages and families to be shaped by love, trust, and grace.
• Pray that our daily work as employees and employers, seen or unseen, would be worship unto the Lord.

Bring your burdens, bring your questions, bring your heart as it is… being, doing, and submitting it ALL to God in the name of Jesus. 

Together, let’s place our all under the supremacy of Christ Jesus, the One who gives us the power to submit and to truly live, even in life’s darkest moments.
Return to the generous heart of God, and He’ll return to you. See you at 12 pm!
