There’s a moment in the book of Haggai that hits home more than we might realize.
God’s people had returned from exile. They were free, but it didn’t feel like victory. The temple was in ruins. They were rebuilding, but progress felt slow and disappointing, like their best days were behind them.
God sees all of that and asks, “Does it not seem to you like nothing?” (Haggai 2:3)
That question hits close to home.
You ever feel like that?
Doing the right things—working hard, showing up for your family, staying connected to church—but still wondering, Is this it?
You look back on what was or what you hoped would be, and it doesn’t match up.
You’re trying to move forward, rebuild after a hard season, but it’s like carrying bricks with no blueprint.
That’s where the people were in Haggai’s day. And yet, God speaks again, not just to stir their hands, but to remind them of His heart.
He says, “The latter glory… shall be greater than the former. And in this place I will give peace.” (Haggai 2:9)
Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise. He is the glory. He is the peace our hearts crave. And His Spirit is still with us, even in the slow, quiet, ordinary moments.
That’s why we pray. Not just to get answers, but to return to the story of His glory.
- If your heart feels tired, discouraged, distracted, or even dry, return to Him.
- If you’ve been drifting or coasting, return to Him.
- If you’re in a season that feels unimpressive or unglamorous, return to Him.
God’s not asking us to build something flashy. He’s asking us to obediently and faithfully be with Him as His Spirit empowers our story for His ultimate story of glory.
As we gather to pray today from 12–12:30 PM on Zoom, let’s center our hearts again on the story He’s still writing:
🙏 Thanking and praising God
- For His faithfulness, past and present
- For the gift of salvation and peace through Jesus
- For His Spirit in us daily
🙏Surrendering and trusting Him:
- Amid discouragement, weariness, and uncertainty
- When we feel stuck in comparison or regret
- For the courage to be faithful in small, unseen places where we live, work, and play
- To desire divine holiness over worldly hype
- For renewed hope for God’s future glory
🙏 Lifting up one another and our neighbors:
- Those rebuilding after loss or transition
- Those longing for peace amid anxiety
- Those following Jesus, that they may not grow weary in doing good
- Those who feel far from God, that they’d know His invitation to return is freely open
Let’s come expecting, not just answers, but a renewed awareness of His glory and presence where we live, work, and play.
Because our best story really is still ahead when we return to God.
God Bless,
