I hope you’re staying safe and cool amidst the scorching summer heat.
Despite the soaring temperatures, we can’t help but rejoice in the signs of God’s presence and His miraculous work happening worldwide.
As I watered our yard this morning, the Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13:3-9 came to mind:
3 Then [Jesus] told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
The water’s life-giving sustenance to grass reminded me of the power of God’s Word to bring growth and fruitfulness in receptive hearts, like seeds being sown in good soil and watered diligently.
In light of this reflection, as we gather in prayer today, let us give thanks to God for His provision and seek His grace and favor to prepare the prayer requests below as good, receptive soil for the seeds of faith to grow the soul and God’s kingdom:
