In His Hands…

Have you ever held something fragile and wondered how it’s still holding together?

Like, you know it’s broken. But you also know it matters. So you attempt to handle it with care.

Maybe it’s a cracked phone screen you keep meaning to replace. Or an old piece of furniture that wobbles but somehow still stands.

Or maybe it’s more personal. A relationship with someone you love that feels strained. A quiet battle with a sin you can’t seem to shake.

That same ache shows up when we look at the world around us, especially just weeks into a new year.

What once felt fresh and hopeful can shift quickly, leaving everything feeling worn down, divided, and fragile.

And if we’re honest, that description fits us too more often than we’d like to admit.

Which leads to a question many of us carry but rarely say out loud.

Why would God care about this world at all?
Long before theology classes or sermon notes, as a child, I sang the very answer simply and sincerely:

He’s got the whole world in His hands.
Those words were easy to sing then. They’re harder to trust now. But, nonetheless, they still tell the truth.

Jesus answers that question by pointing us to the One who holds a fragile world in His hands and still chose to move toward it in love first and always.

God so loved the world that He gave His Son, Jesus, says in John 3:16.

Not because the world was impressive, ready, or deserving. God cared because love is who He is

The Father did not keep His distance or offer advice from afar. He sent Jesus into the mess because we matter to Him.

Because of the Father’s love, His love reshapes how we see ourselves and others. We are not projects God tolerates, but people He endlessly pursues.

And when that truth moves from our heads to our hearts, it changes how we live. We stop striving to prove ourselves and start trusting the One who came for us.

This week on our prayer call, we will sit with that love together.

—Let’s pray honestly about the broken places we see around us and within us.

—Let’s ask God to align our hearts with His heart for the world to know Him.

—Let’s pray that the love we’ve received would not stop with us but would send us and move through us.

So join us tonight at 7 pm. Bring your hope, your weariness, your doubts, and your ache. Let’s pray with confidence that God still sees beauty where we see brokenness.

Because when we pray, we’re not trying to convince God to care. We’re placing ourselves back in the truth we’ve always known. He’s got the whole world in His hands.

And because He loves it, He sends us into it to live out His redemptive story.

Blessings,
