What do you give your all to? We all give it all for something. What do you deem worthy of your commitment?
This is the idea we reflected on this week at Mosaic Fort Worth, continuing our sermon series with our Every Nation family, The Mission: The Unfolding Story of God’s Redemptive Purpose.
You may have many things at the center of your life and, dare I say, even your own mission in the world. But God the Father, in all His glory, has a mission. One where the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, is the center.
He, God in the flesh, died a humiliating and dehumanizing death. His followers were confused and distraught. It felt like a brutal end.
Have you ever been in a place that felt like the end? Are you there now?
But the reality was, Jesus faced His death with conviction to overcome death and sin for all. What looked like a dead end was actually the doorway to new life, eternal life, and a relationship with God available to all who believe in Him.
This dark moment has this strangely attractive power because He actually opens up this way for all people to know God personally. He gave 100% of Himself just for a chance at relationship with us — with you, with me.
Is he knocking on the door of your heart today? Is He calling you into a relationship with Him? Or, maybe deeper into His mission?
What if you answered?
As we join God in His mission, we will face many situations that feel like dead ends. In those moments, it might feel like it’s the end of the story. I know I get weary, don’t you?
But what feels like a death, what feels like the end of the story, is often the beginning of the story God is writing for our lives and the lives of others. We share our faith because we delight in our Savior, the Son who greatly sacrificed for us.
God chooses to use each one of us to bring His light and love into the world. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can all draw near to the Father and once again reflect His glory and image to the watching world.
If commitment is all it takes for mere humans to do extraordinary things, how much more would a commitment to God’s mission, driven by the Son’s sacrifice, result in supernatural things?
As we gather to pray on Zoom at 7 pm tonight, let’s center our hearts on the Son and His sacrifice for us. And let’s pray for the following:
- Greater commitment to God’s mission.
- Open hearts, ready to receive the Good News of the Son’s sacrifice for their salvation.
- Joy and delight in our salvation as we share our faith/
- Strength when we grow weary or face ‘dead ends.’
See you at 7 pm!
Blessings,
Bria Johnson
